With just a short stroke of the pen on the banknote the specially formulated ink signals whether the note is genuine or fake. When the pen is used the ink will react with the paper; if the banknote is genuine the pen will leave a bright yellow mark which will fade away in 5-10 minutes, however, if the banknote is a forgery a dark brown/black mark will remain permanently on the note.
